Spacehive Film Project - Acting & Crew Opportunity
We are excited to present to the wider community the script outline for our upcoming film about Newcastle Film Club which will be made with the new kit purchased for our Kit Library as part of our Spacehive Crowdfunding Campaign.
Based on all of the great ideas suggeted by members earlier in the year, James Shaw (who has volunteered to direct this) and João (who volunteered to help write the script) along with support from Samantha (project leader) has developed the following mockumentary sketch.
A skeptical news reporter is sent to investigate the Newcastle Film Club, expecting to uncover an elitist, closed-off community of filmmakers. However, as they interview members, from beginners to seasoned creatives, they’re surprised to find a welcoming, inclusive group that’s free, open to all ages, and eager to share knowledge. Each interview debunks the reporter’s preconceived notions, revealing a club focused on collaboration and community rather than exclusivity. By the end, the reporter, once critical, is so drawn in by the friendly atmosphere that they can’t help but join in, proving Newcastle Film Club truly welcomes everyone.
We have limited time to complete this film and deliver the final film which is the last step in delivering our crowdfunding project and we're so excited!
We will be reviewing and asking for member's input into script during November 17th Meeting at the Old George, so hope to see you there!

ACTING OPPORTUNITIES
Be a Supporting Actor Opportunity #1, November 17 @ 3pm
We will be shooting some b-roll after the November 17th NFC Meeting at the Old George from 3-4pm. Come along to the meeting and stay afterwards to help us film a few shots as noted in the outline.
Be a Supporting Actor Opportunity #2, November 24th @ 12-2pm
We will need as many members / volunteers / supporting actors as possible to help us create the last shot of the film which is a drone shot of members standing in an N-F-C formation.
Where: City Stadium Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 1AQ (The park across the street from Star & Shadow Cinema)
Roles: Interviewees, November 24th @ 12 - 2pm
If you would like to do one of the interviewee roles, this will be decided on the day and determined by director from whoever shows up. You can express interest to do a specific interviewee role in the comments below! :)
Role FILLED (Den Baer): In Studio Reporter, November 24th 9am - 11:30
This reporter will be sitting behind a desk in front of a greenscreen doing a news report which will begin and end the film.
Where: Flamingo Heights Podcast Studio, 163 City Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 2BE
Role FILLED (Vishal Pandit): On Location Reporter, November 24th @ 12 - 2pm
This reporter will be going around to members of the film club asking questions as the group prepares for the big drone shot.
